Payroll Officer (6-month contract)

Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Officer will assist with the accurate and timely processing of payroll which consists of a majority of casual staff and a subset of permanent staff. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual with experience in payroll processes, compliance, and a strong understanding of Australian payroll regulations including award interpretation.

A key requirement of the Payroll Officer is to work well autonomously and within the Payroll and Head Office team to achieve a high level of customer service.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Payroll: The Payroll Officer will assist the Payroll Manager in preparing for the processing of fortnightly payroll and maintaining payroll data across the group as required.

  • Strong attention to detail in the input of payroll data
  • Input and maintain personnel data in payroll system
  • Ensure that all timesheets and rosters are completed for processing
  • Adhere to deadlines

  • Maintain personnel files in accordance with legislation and company policy
  • Required reporting
  • Responsible for the timely processing of employee enquiries
  • Calculation and processing of back pays
  • Responsible for Payroll Enquiry inbox
  • Responsible for process improvement and documentation
  • Must have Super Guarantee & Long Service Leave knowledge or willing to learn
  • Able to read and interpret Awards

Employee Documentation: The Payroll Officer will assist the Payroll Manager in ensuring timely processing of all documentation for all new and existing employees as required.

  • Employee documentation is processed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assisting with onboarding where necessary
  • All documentation relating to employee onboarding is checked and accurately entered into the system on a daily or weekly basis
  • Reports produced and distributed in the correct time frame
  • Effective follow up processes are in place to ensure that matters are concluded and requests for information met within the required timelines
  • Assistance with production of employee contracts and upload into payroll system

Operational Support: The Payroll Officer will assist the operational teams across the business onboarding new employees as required. This extends to interactions with employee enquiries.

  • Liaise with both external and internal parties in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete work accurately and on time

Compliance: The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring that all activity under their control is conducted in a legal and ethical manner, and is consistent with Company standards, policy and procedure.

  • Processes are developed and implemented in a manner, which protects the Company’s funds, interests and reputation
  • Ensures quality of documentation and reporting meets Company standards and time lines
  • Has a sound knowledge and understanding of Company policy and displays appropriate standards
  • Ensures all confidential and personal information is stored and secured properly at the completion of tasks and ensures work station and office contains no un-secured confidential information prior to the completion of each day

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in payroll support function (essential)
  • Strong English skills – written and spoken (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll systems
  • Demonstrated experience in award interpretation
  • Demonstrated experience in both Windows and business-based applications Excel & Word
  • Highly literate with well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well organized
  • Focus on process improvement
  • Able to work autonomously while maintaining focus on the team’s objectives
  • Self starter with a keen eye for detail
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Punctual, reliable and well presented
  • Customer service orientation

INTERVIEW PROCESS: 2–3 online rounds

JOB LOCATION: Fulltime office/hybrid/remote working

  • Office location: IPC Tower, 1489 Nguyen Van Linh, Tan Hung Ward, HCMC (opposite SC Vivo City, District 7)
