Relatable is a creatively driven entertainment company building products designed to spark laughs, start conversations, and bring people together. Founded in 2016, the company launched with What Do You Meme? – an adult party game for meme lovers that became a breakout hit.
Ten years on from that first game, Relatable has grown to hundreds of SKUs and around 105 employees.
The challenge
Relatable had built its hiring process entirely in-house, recruiting out of its New York office. As the business scaled, that process started to slow things down. Sourcing candidates, screening applications, and getting to a shortlist consumed weeks – and for some roles, months. For a company managing hundreds of SKUs across major retail partners, delays in filling operational roles had a direct impact on how quickly the business could move.
There was also a natural hesitation about bringing in outside help for something the team had always handled itself.

The approach
Away Digital Teams took on the sourcing and screening that had been consuming Relatable’s internal time. Instead of sending through a long list of applicants for Relatable to work through, Away Digital Teams delivered pre-screened candidates matched to the specific requirements of each role. The hiring team’s job became a straightforward decision rather than a screening exercise.
The first placement was a logistics coordinator, supporting the operational side of a business shipping products at growing volume. As that role settled in, Relatable expanded the team with a freight manager – two specialists based in Vietnam, working directly with the New York operations.
